Hi, I have a compaq presario laptop, and it's recently been overheating a little more than usual and it's moving pretty slow, it's free of spyware and viruses.
I've had it about a year and a half, use it everyday.
Does anyone know the average lifespan of a laptop these days?

2 to 5 years of usability for medium to high-end purposes, and up until the thing dies for websurfing, email, and typing stuff up, depending on the brand, model, and processor used.
Your processor heatsink is probably dirty, and your laptop is probably due for a reinstallation of Windows anyway. Find a take-apart guide for that laptop (Google is your friend), and use computer duster to clean out the heatsink fins. If you're comfortable with taking the heat sink off of the laptop, go ahead and replace the thermal gunk with something better (Arctic Ceramique is amazing stuff, my friend).
